Joe Van Vactor, Candidate for Florida's Lt. Governor

I have dedicated my life to service, beginning with my time as a United States Air Force veteran. As an educator and Disaster Project Manager, I’ve tackled challenges from classrooms to crisis zones. Running as a Non-Party Affiliate, I aim to bring real solutions for veterans, seniors, healthcare/home insurance, and economic issues facing  Florida. My journey is rooted in commitment to independence, leadership, and guiding communities through their toughest times.

Save Our Public Schools

I am committed to protecting public education by ensuring that public school funds remain dedicated to public schools — not diverted to private, for-profit companies, returning to funds to help students from low-income families escape struggling public schools.Our children deserve investment in classrooms, teachers, and resources that serve the public good.


I also oppose state required standardized  testing. Florida is one of six states that require testing. School boards should develope tests that requires tests to be twenty percent of the of the students grade in that subject. This would save between fifty-four and eighty million dollars anually. Let's put it back to the adults in the room  School Boards, Superintendents, Principals, and Teachers. Let's take the money saved and put back into schools and teacher's pay.


I also oppose allowing private, for-profit entities to use school board properties for commercial operations. Public assets should exist to support students, educators, and communities — not corporate profit.


As a veteran, educator, and community leader, I believe strong public schools are essential to a strong democracy and a fair future for Florida’s families.
